‘Alone but Moving’

I was given the opportunity to exhibit in a space called the ‘Contemplation Gallery’ at The Suter Art Gallery in Nelson. My intention was to create work that had a stillness and a restraint but at the same time could be dynamic and confident. Working to encapsulate opposing qualities is something that really interests me. Donald Judd talked about creating work that was hard and soft at the same time and this tension and contradiction stays in my mind as I work.
