Work in Progress
May 2026
I often make models to test out ideas that sometimes just pop into my head. At other times I am developing works that are already underway. This is a period of play and experimentation. Because most of my work is 3 dimensional it’s important to have an actual maquette to consider. From a model I can go on to refining the composition.
This work is more 3 dimensional than my previous objects and I’m trying to understand how much depth to include. I’m interested in significant parts of the piece being partially hidden. The inside of the work is viewable from the sides but not from the front.
Work at this stage may go on to become a finished piece or it might be put to one side and returned to another time or it may go no further. I can never really tell when something I am working on is going to take on a life of its own.
